The RED V-RAPTOR XE Z Mount is a professional digital cinema camera designed to deliver uncompromising cinematic image quality. Featuring RED’s advanced large-format 8K sensor with Global Shutter technology, the camera eliminates rolling shutter artifacts and ensures natural motion rendering even in fast-moving scenes or environments with flickering lights.

Built on the powerful DSMC3 platform, the V-RAPTOR XE combines high-end performance with a compact and modular design. Its 35.4-megapixel VistaVision sensor allows filmmakers to capture images at a maximum resolution of 8192 × 4320 while maintaining exceptional color accuracy and more than 17 stops of dynamic range.

This advanced sensor technology provides extensive highlight and shadow detail, giving cinematographers greater creative flexibility during color grading and post-production workflows.

The camera supports REDCODE RAW, RED’s proprietary codec designed for professional filmmaking workflows. REDCODE RAW preserves maximum image data while maintaining efficient file sizes. In addition, the camera also supports Apple ProRes recording formats, providing flexible workflows for broadcast, commercial, and documentary productions.

The Z Mount version introduces a locking Nikon Z lens mount with full electronic communication. This allows seamless integration with Nikon Z lenses, offering smooth iris control, improved autofocus capabilities, and enhanced lens metadata support. The short flange distance of the Z mount also enables compatibility with numerous third-party adapters, expanding lens possibilities for cinema productions.

The V-RAPTOR XE is designed to be extremely versatile across a wide range of production environments. With a lightweight body of approximately 1.8 kg, it can be easily mounted on gimbals, drones, handheld rigs, or complex cinema setups. This flexibility makes it ideal for feature films, commercials, documentaries, streaming productions, and broadcast applications.

Recording is handled through CFexpress Type B media, enabling extremely high data rates of up to 800 MB/s. This ensures stable recording of high-bitrate 8K RAW footage while maintaining reliability in demanding production environments.
